Head of Research at Wintermute: Wallet Linked to UST Decoupling Event Could Be Linked to Jane Street

Igor Igamberdiev, head of research at Wintermute, tweeted that the wallet associated with last year’s TerraUSD (UST) decoupling event may be linked to trading firm Jane Street. Igor Igamberdiev stated that he identified three addresses belonging to the exchange based on Clearpool’s announcement on May 3 last year that Jane Street had borrowed 25 million USDC from BlockTower using their permissioned lending pool. Igor Igamberdiev analyzed only one of the wallets, A, as follows: within two weeks after Terra crashed, this wallet A received $15 million and repaid it to the lender along with an additional $10 million without any use; Invested $150,000 in Tonic DEX; borrowed another $25 million into a Coinbase wallet. The Coinbase wallet received 84.5 million USDC from UST depegger after the large exchange before receiving $25 million from Jane Street. Apart from the two deposits mentioned, this wallet does not have any other interactions, therefore, they most likely belong to the same entity. Igamberdiev pointed out that Wallet A held UST on Anchor for a month, which does not necessarily mean that Jane Street is malicious.
