Odaily Planet Daily News According to a new court letter, lawyers representing the US Department of Justice formally sought a detention order against SBF after the DOJ and SBF lawyers participated in a hearing where the government requested that the former FTX CEO's bail be revoked King, and is keeping him in jail ahead of a trial that begins in October.
The letter clarifies that the SBF does have the "right to speak out and defend itself to the media, even in any setting, as is the case here," but that the SBF has "repeatedly" attempted to "corruptly influence witnesses and interfere with a fair trial. Defendants' recent communications here are not an assertion of innocence, nor are they a response to the investigation or what Defendants claim is a so-called 'toxic media environment,'" the letter said.
"It is therefore unlikely that SBF will comply with any condition or combination of release conditions" where bail conditions have been shown to be 'insufficient'". (blockwork)
