Odaily Planet Daily News On Thursday, Yuga Labs conducted an Otherside scenario demonstration, inviting 40 "travelers" (Voyagers) to the studio in Los Angeles to show the vast new space in its metaverse. Tailored exclusively for BAYC holders, the event features refreshments and products from community members who leverage the IP of their NFT characters in their businesses.
While it wasn't an official "Trip," during the demo, selected BAYC holders traveled across a massive island built for the experience and were able to provide key feedback to Yuga Labs in real time.
Michael Figge, chief creative officer at Yuga Labs, said the approximately 2.4 square kilometer digital island was designed as a virtual club for the BAYC community and to showcase potential use cases for Otherside for other communities looking to integrate in Web3.
While Otherside still doesn't have an official public release date, Figge says the team is eager to offer holders a persistent space "as soon as possible."
Web3 company Yuga Labs has been focused on building Otherside since first announcing it last year. Since its launch in April 2022, the transaction volume of the NFT series Otherdeed related to the Otherside plot has exceeded 609,073 ETH (approximately $1.1 billion).
Earlier this month, the company's CEO Daniel Alegre told Axios that the company plans to offer more "short-term experiences" before Otherside is ready to roll out its immersive, buildable virtual worlds in full to ensure users don't get confused Years later progress "still feels uncertain".
