Crypto Miners in Texas Apply to Use Up to 33 GW of Electricity, Roughly Equal to New York State’s Demand

According to Bloomberg News, the expansion of cryptocurrency miners in Texas in the United States is accelerating, far exceeding the initial expectations of the authorities. There are already enough miners applying to be connected to the Texas power grid to use up to 33 GW of electricity. The Texas Electric Reliability Council, which runs the system, says those demands are 33 percent higher than what the grid is prepared to handle over the next 10 years, and enough to power the entire state of New York.
