CoinDesk may lay off 20 people, accounting for 45% of its editorial team

Odaily Planet Daily News CoinDesk fired 45% of its editorial staff because its parent company Digital Currency Group plans to introduce strategic investors. CoinDesk will hold an all-staff meeting at 4:00 p.m. ET to discuss the layoffs, which the media company will lay off 20 people, or 45 percent of its editorial team, according to people familiar with the matter. Prior to news in July, CoinDesk was close to reaching a $125 million deal with a consortium led by Tally Capital’s cryptocurrency investor Matthew Roszak. As part of the deal, DCG will retain a stake in the media property, which provides businesses such as events, data and indexing. (The Block)
