The core developers of Helium, a decentralized wireless communications network, have launched a HIP 70 proposal to migrate the network from Helium's custom blockchain to Solana. To achieve this goal, the core development team proposes to move Proof of Coverage (PoC) and data transfer accounting to oracles, simplifying the system architecture and allowing the choice of a more scalable Layer 1. The proposal states that the Solana blockchain can improve Helium's speed, stability, and attract more protocols to participate in the Helium ecosystem. The Helium Foundation will hold a community vote on the proposal from September 12th to September 18th. A timetable for the planned migration has not yet been disclosed.
