Odaily Planet Daily News The Sultanate of Oman has launched a new encryption mining center, which is the second mining facility opened in the country within ten months.
A data hosting and cryptocurrency mining center has been inaugurated in the Salalah Free Zone, a special economic zone in the country with virtually no corporate taxes, Oman Observer reported. Local firm Exahertz International will operate the center in partnership with Dubai-based blockchain firm Moonwalk International.
The center will cost $370 million to build and will use Bitmain's latest mining machines, with 15,000 mining machines to be installed by October 2023. Currently, the project is in a pilot phase with 2,000 mining machines running online and consuming 11 megawatts of electricity.
It is reported that another mining center in Oman will start in November 2022 with an investment of US$389 million. (Cointelegraph)
