European Parliament President Roberta Metsola and Sweden’s Rural Affairs Minister Peter Kullgren formally signed the Marketplace in Cryptoassets (MiCA) regulation into law, alongside a separate anti-money laundering law requiring crypto providers to verify the identity of their customers when transferring funds. MiCA will come into force within weeks of publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, and its terms, including requiring crypto exchanges and wallet providers to obtain licenses to operate in the 27 EU countries and requiring stablecoin issuers to hold appropriate reserves, It will take effect in 12 to 18 months.
