Virtual reality basketball app Gym Class has completed an $8 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and participated by Y Combinator. The app has nearly 1 million downloads on the Meta Quest App Lab and is scheduled to launch on the Meta Quest Store this fall. Gym Class allows people wearing Quest VR headsets to play basketball online with up to eight other people from around the world. Players control the avatar through their own body movements and hold Quest controllers to shoot, pass, dribble and dunk on a customizable digital court that users can design themselves. The avatar in the game will repeat actions such as jumping that the user performs in real life.
