According to CoinDesk, the encryption data company CCData and the Cryptocurrency Carbon Rating Institute (CCRI) jointly released the institutional-level encryption ESG ranking, evaluating the top 40 most liquid digital assets. Governance risks and opportunities, taking into account a range of indicators including decentralization, energy consumption, community engagement, and more. The scores for each indicator are then aggregated and weighted up to a maximum of 100 points to form the final grades of AA (best) and E (worst). In the ranking, Ethereum is the only blockchain to receive an AA rating, performing well across all three ESG factors. Solana, Cardano, and Polkadot received A grades. Bitcoin received high marks for social and governance, and a B grade for its massive energy consumption.
