According to Portal Do Bitcoin, the Central Bank of Brazil confirmed that it plans to retain functions in the CBDC’s Real Digital code that allow monetary authorities and authorized entities to freeze user accounts, reduce target address balances, confiscate and mint new units of digital currency. The Central Bank of Brazil stated that these functions will be preserved due to the need to adapt the platform to Brazilian legislation and jurisprudence, and the ability of the Brazilian national financial system SFN to “freeze or seize value” is protected by current Brazilian legislation. Full-stack developer Pedro Magalhães discovered this functionality in Real Digital code.
