Julapun Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance of Thailand, said that the government’s “digital currency” plan to issue 10,000 baht (approximately US$280) to each citizen of the country over the age of 16 cannot be implemented as originally planned. Expand before February 1, 2024.
Previously, Thailand’s Prime Minister Setah Tasha planned to issue 10,000 baht (approximately US$280) of “digital currency” to each Thai citizen over 16 years old, totaling approximately 548 billion baht (approximately US$15 billion). The issuance of digital currency will be implemented through a new “super application”. Pheu Pheu Thai sees the plan as central to its plan to revitalize Thailand's economy. (VNA)
