On Sunday night, US time, the latest episode of "The Simpsons" specifically mentioned NFT and blockchain. In a special Halloween episode of the iconic animated series Treehouse of Horror 34, the show made multiple references to the overvaluation of on-chain NFTs in the first chapter titled “Wild Barts Can’t Be Tokens.” In this episode, Marge battles blockchain to rescue Bart, now an NFT, and the city's mayor announces that the Springfield Art Museum will go digital. There were also many blue-chip NFTs (such as Beeple, Bored Ape Yacht Club) and second-tier PFPs in the plot, which proved to be almost worthless.
Noah Bolanowski, an NFT collector and consultant at IRL NFT gallery Crypt Gallery, analyzed how the episode depicts NFTs on the A noble status." The episode made plenty of references to last year's NFT debacle, which isn't the first time cryptocurrencies (or NFTs) have appeared on The Simpsons.
In addition, the "Simpsons" themed NFT series Springfield Punks were released by artist Rino Russo and open to free mint, and its floor price once rose to 0.35 ETH. (CoinDesk)
