The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Tuesday that Amir Bruno Elmaani, aka Bruno Brock, the founder of blockchain protocol Oyster Pearl, was sentenced to four years in prison for tax crimes and ordered to repay $5.5 million in estimated tax losses.
According to the Justice Department, Elmaani made "millions of dollars" from the ICO offering of his protocol token PRL, but instead of reporting the sales, he falsified tax returns and then used $10 million of the proceeds to Purchases of multiple yachts (where he stored gold bullion), real estate, and home improvements.
