Binance recently took part in the Advanced Commercial Crime Course conducted by the Hong Kong Police Force's Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB). Binance contributed its expertise in the domain of virtual asset-related crime investigations, lending competence toward the enhancement of law enforcement abilities.
Taking place from November 29 to December 1, the course gathered more than forty participants representing varied law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and financial institutions like the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). The central theme of discussion circled around current crime trends and effective investigative methodologies, striving to boost the participants' proficiency in combating criminal activities including virtual asset-related threats.
Binance experts gave an insightful presentation on blockchain investigation techniques and provided an overview of how centralized exchanges like Binance assist global law enforcement agencies in fighting cybercrime.
A representative of the Hong Kong CCB expressed their gratitude by stating, "The input from Binance representatives was instrumental in helping the participants understand the overlapping sectors of virtual assets and crime. This knowledge is crucial as we adapt to the new types of crimes that continuously emerge and evolve with technological advancement."
Reflecting on the event, Carlos Mak from Binance's investigation team shared, "At Binance, we recognize the significance of public-private partnership in crime prevention and investigation. We are proud to contribute to this advanced course and help deepen participants' understanding of virtual asset investigations."
Maintaining its dedication to user protection and a secure blockchain ecosystem, Binance plans to continue its collaborative efforts with global law enforcement agencies. In 2023 alone, Binance has conducted and taken part in 120 training sessions and seminars worldwide. Prior to this event, Binance had been invited by the HKPF to the Hong Kong International Symposium on Cyber Policing and the Virtual Asset Investigation Course organized by the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB).
