In response to the question "When can India see a bill for Web3?" Jayant Sinha, chairman of the Indian Parliament's Finance Standing Committee and Parliamentary Minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said in an interview at India Blockchain Week that India is unlikely to do so in the short term. It may not be until mid-2025 to propose a legislative bill targeting cryptocurrencies or Web3.
Sinha said: "India is different from other economies like Singapore, South Korea or the United States. When we talk about cryptocurrencies, we have to be very careful, very cautious, even if cryptocurrencies are just one use case of the Web3 series of revolutionary technologies." (CoinDesk)
