According to Decrypt, OneUniverse's turn-based mobile game Champions Arena, launched in August on Gala Games, is expanding with new NFT features and a strategy to attract Web2 gamers to Web3 gaming. Gala Games' President of Blockchain, Jason “Bitbender” Brink, explained that the goal is to create a game that everyone can enjoy and gradually introduce the Web2 player base to the concept of ownership by offering them a taste of its benefits. Champions Arena allows players to smoothly transition into using NFTs once they are ready for Web3 gaming. Players can use minted NFT characters in all aspects of the game, including the PvP arena, where they can earn Victory Points that determine their daily GALA rewards. A future update will introduce Nexus, an item that enables owners to rent out their best Champion characters to free players, unlocking their ability to earn GALA rewards. The game also features a new generation of NFTs on Gala Games, with GalaChain allowing upgrades and levels to stay with the NFT as the player progresses.
