Cybersecurity firm Cybertrace has issued a warning after a deepfake video involving Australian mining magnate and businessman Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest went viral on Facebook. In the video, someone using Forrest's name was promoting a fake crypto trading platform that claimed to allow "ordinary people" to make thousands of dollars every day. The fake video was actually a "fireside chat" conducted by Rhodes' company last October.
Potential victims were reportedly lured to a website called "Quantum AI," which Cybertrace said has become synonymous with scams and financial fraud.
Forrest is one of Australia's most successful entrepreneurs, with a net worth of $29.4 billion, according to Bloomberg. Cybertrace also noted that Australia's richest man Gina Rinehart, entrepreneur Dick Smith and TV host Allison Langdon were also targeted by such scams. (Cointelegraph)
