The Ethereum Name Service is focusing on ways to build its protocol on the Ethereum L2 network and may even consider launching its own internal L2 network, ENS executive director Khori Whittaker revealed.
Whittaker remains mum on the specifics of its research and development process, but said the ENS team is currently discussing whether it should build its integration on top of the existing Ethereum L2 network or release an internal L2 they call an “identity layer.”
"We invest a lot of resources in research and development of L2 applications, so I think you will see some practical results of this research this year." Whittaker revealed that most of the conversations among ENS developers mainly focus on Optimism pursue development.
He added that future L2 developments may also consider using zero-knowledge proofs, a key component in protecting user information on public blockchains.
