Nokia released the "2030 Technology Strategy Report", predicting that the future development of the Metaverse, Web3 and artificial intelligence will lead to a surge in network demand, and plans to fill this gap by 2030.
Its report focuses on building future network architecture to serve emerging innovative markets. Nokia expects network demand to grow between 22% and 25% from 2022 to 2030. Federico Guillén, President of Network Infrastructure at Nokia, attributes this growth to the recent mainstream introduction of generative AI and virtual reality devices.
Nokia's strategy involves investing heavily in its network equipment and services over the next few years. Nokia will focus on the value Internet ecosystem, including decentralization, blockchain and smart contracts. Nokia plans to focus on human augmentation, spatial computing and distributed processing in the Metaverse. Other ecosystems Nokia is focusing on include AI, Industry 5.0, the application programming interface (API) economy and the Cloud continuum. (Cointelegraph)
