According to Foresight News, a group of legislators led by US House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry and House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn 'GT' Thompson have written a letter to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler, requesting further clarification on the agency's stance on Ethereum and its position on Special Purpose Broker-Dealers (SPBD) custody of non-security digital assets, the SEC's willingness to address SPBD violations, the regulatory classification of ETH, and the SEC's stance on Prometheum's announcement.
In February, digital asset company Prometheum announced plans to launch custody services for Ethereum's native cryptocurrency, ETH, on the Ethereum blockchain, with a rollout scheduled for late March for institutional clients.
