The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recently announced a grant of $3.6 million for cooperative agreements to strengthen the cybersecurity workforce to respond to the growing threat of cyberattacks. It is reported that 18 educational and community organizations in 15 states will receive grants of approximately $200,000, which are committed to addressing the national shortage of skilled cybersecurity employees. NIST Director Laurie E. Locascio said the investment fills a "critical gap" in the cybersecurity workforce. According to Statista data, there will be at least 100 cases of private data breaches of government entities in the United States in 2023, up from 74 in the previous year. (Cointelegraph)
