Australian computer scientist Craig Wright has stopped appealing a defamation case he lost in Norway in 2022 over his claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin. The appeal was against Magnus Granath, a Norwegian citizen who tweeted fiery rhetoric against Wright. In 2022, a Norwegian judge sided with Granath on wording choices and other written statements, and Wright sought to appeal the decision.
Granath announced on social media: "Just got off the phone with my Norwegian lawyer and my 2022 win is now final and enforceable. This case started on May 19, 2019 and lasts until today. I'm very happy! Now I just need to get the UK case dismissed/win and I can move on."
Wright filed a defamation lawsuit against Granath in Norway in May 2019, alleging written and defamatory comments intended to damage someone's reputation. (The Block)
