Trust Wallet Discovers High-Risk Security Exploit On iPhones

According to U.Today, Trust Wallet, a Web3 unhosted wallet, has identified a significant security risk on iPhones, urging users, particularly high-value targets, to take immediate action. The company has discovered a 'high-risk zero-day exploit targeting iMessage on the Dark Web.' This exploit can infiltrate iPhones without the need for users to click any link, posing a severe security threat. While the information suggests that high-value targets are at greater risk, the update also indicates that simply using iMessage increases the likelihood of exploitation. To completely mitigate the risk, Trust Wallet has recommended its users to disable iMessage until Apple addresses the issue. The company also emphasized that this threat extends beyond its community and poses a risk to the entire crypto sector. Trust Wallet explained that it continually monitors various sources for potential threats. During its investigation, it encountered a dark web operator claiming to be able to exploit the zero-day vulnerability for $2 million. The company's decision to disclose the exploit aligns with its commitment to transparency regarding the safety of its community. Trust Wallet clarified that its warnings are solely for security purposes and it holds no personal grudge against iMessage. Despite efforts to combat crypto scams, theft in the Web3 world is not decreasing. More users are falling victim to various forms of exploitation daily, particularly as Bitcoin's price recently reached new highs. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Deepfakes in crypto scam-related activities is also on the rise. Prominent industry figures, including Ripple Labs Executives and Charles Hoskinson, are frequently impersonated in these scams.
