According to people familiar with the matter, CZ and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had communicated via text messages at the end of 2023 to discuss the challenges of global expansion of startups.
It is reported that CZ and Altman had met as early as a year ago. The two got in touch again during the leadership dispute of OpenAI in November last year. In addition, Gu Ronghui, co-founder of blockchain security company CertiK, wrote in a court letter that CZ mentioned that he had communicated with Altman, "They both believe that AI will greatly help technological development and human knowledge advancement." CZ also said that he is seeking to invest in large data centers to support AI applications.
Last month, CZ announced that he would launch the online education platform Giggle Academy and expressed his interest in investing in AI and biotechnology on social media. He said in court documents that he hopes to fund small research laboratories to use blockchain technology to cure diseases and benefit billions of people around the world. (New York Times)
