The Cyber Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office in South Korea said it had recovered a deleted e-wallet of a fraud defendant and seized 7.6 billion won (about $5.6 million) worth of Ethereum.
Prosecutors said programmer An was accused of defrauding 156 victims between January and February 2019, claiming that the tokens he developed would be listed on exchanges, thereby defrauding these victims of 14.6 billion won (about $14.6 million) in investment funds. In June of the same year, An was also accused of transferring 1,796 Ethereum to his personal crypto wallet, which the gaming platform company he worked for purchased to operate a cryptocurrency exchange.
