Mercury, a college sports fan experience platform, completed a $7.5 million seed round of financing, led by Multicoin Capital, with participation from Brevan Howard Digital, North Island Ventures and Crosslink Capital. The new funds will be used to expand the platform’s partnerships with new schools and increase leadership hiring. Mercury, co-founded by Porter Grieve and Justin Johnson in 2021, connects college sports brands with fans through a fan experience platform. The startup partnered with the athletic department at the University of Central Florida, Clemson University Athletics, and signed more than 50 student-athletes on the Kentucky Athletics team. The platform is currently based on the Flow blockchain, with all assets hosted on Mercury.
