According to Odaily, Fantom has officially announced the launch of its upgraded Opera chain. The upgrade has reached the necessary 66% consensus level, marking its official start. The release date aligns with the expected timeline set when the Sonic testnet phase began in October last year. The project has progressed smoothly without any delays.
The Opera chain is now expected to achieve the following goals: variable/mixed/complex transactions achieving about 2,000 transactions per second (TPS) with approximately one second certainty, token swap transactions achieving about 4,000 TPS with approximately 1.3 seconds completion, and token transfers achieving about 10,000 TPS with approximately 1.6 seconds completion. Additionally, the storage requirements for validator nodes are expected to decrease by about 66%, and the operating costs for archive nodes are expected to decrease by about 95%.
In the coming weeks and months, Fantom plans to share more details about the technology, token economics, audience participation plans, partnerships, brand, and strategic direction of its upcoming chain.
