Nassim Taleb and Edward Snowden Criticize OpenAI's ChatGPT

According to U.Today, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, the author of 'Black Swan' and 'Antifragile', and a known critic of Bitcoin, has issued a warning about OpenAI’s product, ChatGPT. Taleb, who is recognized for his expertise in risk management and finance, has been exploring modern technologies and identifying their flaws. His recent focus has been on artificial intelligence, specifically the ChatGPT bot developed by OpenAI. Taleb shared a screenshot of his interaction with the AI-powered chatbot, highlighting a significant flaw in the software. He pointed out that the bot does not acknowledge when it does not know the answer to a user's question. In his case, he asked the bot for the Latin name of Saint Sassine, an early Christian martyr. Despite Taleb rejecting all the responses provided by ChatGPT, the bot continued to generate new answers. Taleb criticized the bot's tendency to provide nonsensical responses when it does not know the answer to a question. In a similar vein, Edward Snowden, a former NSA analyst and whistleblower, also criticized ChatGPT. Snowden's warning came after the news that OpenAI had appointed former NSA chief Paul Nakasone to its board of directors. Snowden, who had previously exposed the NSA's secret payments to private American tech companies for access to user communications, called OpenAI's appointment of Nakasone a 'calculated betrayal of the rights of every person on Earth.' He urged the public to avoid using OpenAI or any of its products, including ChatGPT.
