German Central Bank President: It is not clear yet what the upper limit of digital euro holdings will be

In a speech in Rome, German central bank president Joachim Nagel said it was unclear what the upper limit for consumers to hold potential digital euros should be. Nagel cited research by ECB economists that 3,000 digital euros per person could effectively curb the impact on bank liquidity risks, but the latest research from the German central bank showed that the optimal number might be between 1,500 and 2,500 digital euros per person. He said he would study carefully to determine the optimal value for this upper limit. (Bloomberg)
