Nigeria’s IT agency, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), is considering plans to develop a domestic blockchain to strengthen national security and protect citizen data.
NITDA director general Kashifu Abdullahi said the blockchain, which will be named “Nigerium,” will aim to strengthen national security and protect citizen data.
One person who supports the development of a local blockchain believes that such a protocol could ensure that Nigerian laws are followed and give the country greater control over its data. (Bitcoin.com)
