Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, will speak on Wednesday at a town hall meeting hosted by Crypto4Harris, a group that aims to reshape the relationship between cryptocurrency and presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris, according to people familiar with the matter. The New York Democrat will speak with cryptocurrency industry insiders and lawmakers at 8 p.m. ET, according to people familiar with the matter. Schumer was one of several Democrats who voted in July to overturn Staff Accounting Bulletin 121, or SAB 121. The bulletin has sparked controversy over the past year as the crypto industry worried that it could hinder banks from protecting digital assets. Meanwhile, a source who spoke with members of the Harris campaign said candidate Harris has begun reaching out to the cryptocurrency industry and said they want to learn more about cryptocurrencies. Harris has not yet publicly stated her stance on cryptocurrencies.
