Elon Musk's X will shut down its operations in Brazil while retaining services in the country, according to a post from the company on Saturday.
"Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has threatened to arrest our legal representative in Brazil if we do not comply with his censorship order," X Global Government Affairs said in a post. He said the move was based on a secret order, which we share here to expose his behavior."
A spokesman for Brazil's Federal Supreme Court declined to comment. Musk called the decision to close the Brazilian office "difficult" in another post.
It is not clear how big X's business is in Brazil. Sensor Tower data shows that as of the first quarter, the platform had about 20 million active users in Brazil, down about 15% from the same period last year. (Fortune)
