Nvidia's second-quarter revenue increased 122% year-on-year to $30 billion, higher than expected

After the U.S. stock market closed on August 28, Nvidia released its second quarter financial report for fiscal year 2025 ending July 28. The financial report shows that Nvidia's revenue in the second fiscal quarter was US$30 billion, a year-on-year increase of 122% and a month-on-month increase of 15%, which is higher than previously expected. Under the Non-GAAP standard, Nvidia's net income in the second fiscal quarter was US$16.95 billion, an increase of 11% month-on-month and 152% year-on-year, and the gross profit margin was 75.7%. In terms of business, Nvidia's latest quarterly data center revenue was US$26.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 154% and a month-on-month increase of 16%; the revenue of the gaming and AI PC business was US$2.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16% and a month-on-month increase of 9%; the revenue of the professional vision business was US$454 million, a year-on-year increase of 20% and a month-on-month increase of 6%; the revenue of the automotive electronics and robotics business was US$346 million, a year-on-year increase of 37% and a month-on-month increase of 5%. Among them, the data center business is still growing rapidly, but the growth rate of this business in the latest quarter is lower than the 427% in the first fiscal quarter. Nvidia's revenue growth in the latest quarter was also lower than the 262% in the first fiscal quarter. Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun said that the demand for Hopper architecture chips remains strong, and the expectations for the Blackwell architecture are incredible. Blackwell samples are being shipped to partners and customers, and two new products, the Spectrum-X network platform for AI and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, have reached a significant scale. The financial report also stated that in the first half of fiscal 2025, Nvidia returned $15.4 billion to shareholders in the form of stock repurchases and cash dividends. As of the end of the second fiscal quarter, the company still had $7.5 billion in stock repurchase authorization. On August 26, the company's board of directors approved an additional $50 billion stock repurchase plan.
