Crypto scams surge in 2024, Inferno Drainer usage up 300%

According to Web3 security firm Blockaid, as of July 2024, the number of DApps using Inferno Drainer has grown to 40,000. Blockaid head of research and development Oz Tamir told Cointelegraph that the number of new malicious DApps using the tool has increased threefold. Tamir noted: "At the beginning of this year, we saw about 800 new malicious DApps every week. Now, that number has tripled to 2,400 per week." Inferno Drainer helped steal $70 million before claiming to have shut down in 2023. However, the scam-as-a-service tool reappeared this year and has become increasingly active. (Cointelegraph)
