A Nigerian court has delayed ruling on the bail application of Binance Financial Crime Compliance Chief Tigran Gambaryan, who has been held in the country for more than six months and has been detained by U.S. lawmakers for what they say is unjust. The court in the Nigerian capital of Abuja heard several hours of arguments on Wednesday before the presiding judge said a verdict would be handed down at an unspecified later date.
Gambaryan’s lawyer, Mark Mordi, told the court that the defendant had required surgery since July 18 and needed urgent medical care that was not available in the Nigerian criminal justice system. State prosecutor Ekele Iheanacho argued that the Binance executive was adequately treated both at the prison hospital and at another facility in Abuja used by senior government officials.
