Amanda Cassatt, founder of Web3 marketing firm Serotonin, said at the Token2049 conference in Singapore that despite the growing adoption of cryptocurrencies, investors should not put too much faith in marketing and should always do their own research.
Cassatt explained that experienced crypto investors and newbies should take a “skeptical” stance towards crypto marketing and “always do their own research to understand any technology or product they are working with.”
She said that the due diligence standards of PR firms have increased in recent years, as companies now have to be more careful than ever to ensure that they are working with legitimate crypto projects. This often requires PR firms to get second opinions from fund managers and angel investors, who conduct a more in-depth financial assessment of the project, “Most of our business comes from leading VCs in the field, so they do due diligence on these projects, which definitely helps us.”
She added: “We also go through our own process to ensure that it is not only a viable project - we think it has a good team and can really accomplish its mission - but also that we are the right fit for this project.” (Cointelegraph)
