According to Odaily, the Stacks Foundation has announced that the Nakamoto activation is expected to take place on October 9. In preparation for this event, the Stacks community will host over 20 developer workshops worldwide, featuring lectures, live demonstrations, and technical challenges where participants can win STX tokens. Recently, it was revealed that core developers have selected Bitcoin block #864864 for the Nakamoto hard fork, which will introduce key improvements such as fast blocks and Bitcoin finality.
As part of the hard fork, all node operators are required to upgrade their nodes, with binaries expected to be available approximately one week before the hard fork. The foundation emphasized that core developers remain committed to a secure and reliable release. If necessary, they reserve the right to select a new hard fork block to address issues or investigate network activity. Any updates to the block will be communicated immediately.
