According to BlockBeats, on September 27, Bitcoin mining company Hut 8 announced that its new GPU as a Service (GPUaaS) business has begun generating revenue. This service offers customers the ability to lease GPU computing power, supporting high-performance tasks such as AI processing. Hut 8 has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and AdvizeX to design and launch the new computing cluster through its subsidiary, Highrise AI. This five-year collaboration includes fixed infrastructure payments and a revenue-sharing agreement with an unnamed AI cloud developer.
The GPUaaS cluster is deployed in a Tier 3 data center in Chicago and consists of multiple HPE Cray supercomputers equipped with 1,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot stated that the launch of the GPU as a Service business further diversifies the company's computing layer, which now includes AI computing, Bitcoin mining, and traditional cloud services.
