Opinion: Solana will never surpass Ethereum

Ethereum community member Ryan Berckmans responded to Multicoin partner Kyle's "Why Solana Will Surpass Ethereum" speech during TOKEN2049 on social platforms, saying that Solana will never surpass Ethereum. Solana is at its peak in this cycle. In the future, the fastest L2 will be faster than Solana. Solana's speed and cost advantages will shrink to zero. Everyone will clearly see that the L2 model is a genius move that scales the way the world actually works while providing excellent value accumulation for ETH. Berckmans said that Kyle's story about Solana's advantages and progress is either over-exaggerated or completely fictitious. He ignored any details about Solana's structural disadvantages, such as the fact that they sell the same 50,000 TPS to each customer, and this 50,000 TPS is actually more like a maximum of 1.1k TPS today. In Berckmans’ view, Solana’s real structural advantage is to leverage centralization and vertical integration to accelerate growth, and at least for now, it has higher curiosity and aggression than Ethereum in the application layer, such as decentralized infrastructure and consumer encryption.
