OpenAI on Tuesday requested the dismissal of Musk’s federal lawsuit against the company, which accused OpenAI of harassment in order to promote the billionaire’s own artificial intelligence startup xAI. Musk filed the lawsuit two months ago, accusing OpenAI of abandoning its founding mission of developing an open artificial intelligence platform to “benefit humanity” in favor of maximizing profits.
In its motion to dismiss filed Tuesday in federal court in California, OpenAI said Musk’s lawsuit is the latest in “Musk’s increasingly aggressive campaign to harass OpenAI for his own competitive advantage.” The company said Musk had supported its core goal of seeking “safe and beneficial development of general artificial intelligence,” but the billionaire allegedly “abandoned the venture after his efforts for dominance failed.”
