Detained Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan remained in jail in Nigeria on Wednesday, with Judge Emeka Nwite allegedly appearing to be absent from Gambaryan's hearing this week, instead attending a seminar at the National Institute of Justice in Abuja, Nigeria's capital.
Gambaryan's hearing has now been rescheduled for Friday, October 11. He has been held in Nigeria since late February 2024, when he was accused of money laundering and tax evasion by Nigerian authorities. (Ripples Nigeria)
Previously, at the end of September, the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee passed a resolution requiring Nigeria to release Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan and provide him with unrestricted medical care. The resolution was passed by voice vote yesterday and will next be submitted to the full House for a vote.
