OpenAI is disbanding its "AGI Readiness" team, and its members will be reassigned to other teams at OpenAI. The team was previously responsible for evaluating OpenAI's ability to handle increasingly powerful AI technologies and assessing the world's readiness for such technologies.
It is reported that Miles Brundage, the chief consultant of the AGI Readiness team, announced his resignation in a Substack post. He said the main reason for his resignation was that he believed that his external research could have a greater impact, the opportunity cost was too high, and he hoped to reduce bias and believed that his goals at OpenAI had been achieved.
