Decentralized shared sorting layer Astria launches mainnet alpha version. The project aims to decentralize blockchain "sorters", and its sorting layer can be used like modular plug-ins for other networks as an alternative to centralized sorters.
Astria said that its setup represents "a single, permissionless network that can be shared by multiple rollups, providing settlement (i.e. bridging) and decentralized sorting, with fast (about 2 seconds) block time and single slot finality", and can run in Ethereum-compatible EVM environments and Solana's SVM environments.
In July, Astria announced the completion of a $12.5 million financing, led by dba and Placeholder VC, RockawayX, Maven11, 1kx, Bankless Ventures, Figment Capital and Batu, as well as angel investors such as Yuki, DCBuilder, Hasu, Will Price and Jason Yanowitz. The new funds will be used to continue building the Astria sorting layer and Astria Stack.
