Rune Christensen, founder of Sky (formerly MakerDAO), wrote that he is planning to propose an additional proposal to change the core token (whether it turns out to be MKR or SKY) to a strictly deflationary token economics. Under normal circumstances, no more tokens will be issued, and the total supply will only decline over time as the destruction engine permanently removes tokens from circulation. The only exception is the case of a shortage of collateral, which puts USDS and DAI at risk of bankruptcy. This is the original MKR token economics. At the same time, in addition to the strict deflationary purchase and destruction of token economics, the core token (MKR or SKY) can still receive star token rewards through activation, such as Spark SPK.
It further stated that if the vote results in retaining the Sky brand, the proposal will fully promote the transition of the entire ecosystem from MKR to SKY, and MKR will be renamed Wrapped 24k Sky Token (SKY24K); if the vote to reposition the Maker brand wins, Sky will be transformed into a Maker Star similar to Spark. The current SKY token will be changed to OLD_SKY, permanently redeemable back to MKR at a fixed 1:24000 ratio.
This additional proposal will follow up the brand decision and will be voted on next week (November 11-November 14), and more details of the proposal will be announced later this week.
