Agency: The Federal Reserve does not seem to be affected by the election

Analysts at High Frequency Economics said the Fed has two more meetings between Election Day and Inauguration Day, but it is expected to be careful to avoid letting expectations of future White House policy influence its interest rate decisions. The Fed can only set monetary conditions based on policies established by law and budgets or orders from the executive branch. In the heat of a campaign, it cannot re-formulate policy based on rapidly changing promises. Even if the winning candidate's intentions may become clearer by December, these will still need to be implemented through congressional legislation or executive orders. (Jinshi)
