The Ethereum Foundation said, “After a scope assessment for the Pectra fork, a successful interoperability event, and four development networks, we are now launching the first short-term Pectra testnet, Mekong. The Mekong testnet contains all the EIP proposals that will be used for the Ethereum Pectra fork. These changes include user experience (UX) improvements implemented by EIP-7702, staking changes implemented by EIP-7251, deposit and withdrawal mechanism changes implemented by EIP-6110/EIP-7002, etc. Mekong is a testing ground for wallet developers to experiment with UX improvements and stakers to familiarize themselves with the upcoming changes. This testnet will be short-lived and has fully implemented all Pectra planned features. While we may see some minor spec changes or smaller EIPs, the features included here will be integrated into existing public testnets and eventually into the Ethereum mainnet.”
