LayerZero launches new data primitive lzRead for smart contract developers

According to official news, LayerZero announced the launch of a new data primitive lzRead, which is designed for smart contract developers. Using any standard smart contract language, developers can retrieve and calculate data from one or more chains through a single function call, utilizing the complete historical data of each chain. Day 1 Builder uses lzRead as follows: Cross-chain governance (Agora): Agora uses lzRead to collect votes from cross-chain token holders to achieve seamless governance of DAOs without bridging assets; Asset verification (ApeChain): ApeChain uses lzRead to verify BAYC NFT ownership on Ethereum, creating "shadow tokens" that reflect cross-chain mainnet ownership without requiring users to bridge NFTs; Proof of reserves (Ambient): Ambient integrates lzRead to obtain TVL across multiple chains, achieving a zero-trust model for real-time reserve verification; Cross-chain price information (Gelato): Gelato uses lzRead to aggregate cross-chain token prices, providing reliable price information for liquidity management and automated DeFi operations; Election solution (Wintermute): Wintermute relies on lzRead to access real-time cross-chain data from Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Base for election prediction markets to ensure fair and transparent results.
