Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren won reelection against Republican John Deaton and will become the leading Democrat on the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee starting in 2025.
In a notice from Senator Warren's office on November 13, she said she would fight the Republican majority on the Senate Banking Committee as a ranking member, replacing Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, who was defeated on November 5. Warren and Senator Brown are the most outspoken skeptics of cryptocurrencies in the U.S. Congress, but Warren did not say she would continue this strategy in the next Congress.
Warren said: "After the 2024 election, the Democratic leadership must show that we can make life more affordable for the working class and take urgent action to rebuild our middle class. For hard-working families in Massachusetts and across the country, this new role means a better opportunity to advance solutions, such as building more housing to lower prices and protecting consumers from private equity greed and special interest scams."
