According to official news, the Starknet Security Committee V1.0 has been established to ensure the security and integrity of the Starknet network.
The committee consists of 12 members, focusing on geographic and organizational diversity and expertise, and its initial mission is to protect the willingness to pledge, which will be expanded to the core infrastructure of Starknet over time. The committee will undertake this mission by evaluating and approving proposed upgrades, managing emergency responses, and maintaining transparent reporting.
The committee's responsibilities strike a balance between security and operational transparency, including:
Security risk assessment: Evaluate proposed upgrades of Starknet core contracts and identify potential vulnerabilities;
Emergency response: In an emergency, take immediate action with 75% of the committee votes;
Approval process: Authorize upgrades after a thorough security review, requiring at least 50% of the committee to approve;
Transparency: Publish reports of approved, rejected, and emergency decisions to maintain trust within the Starknet community.
In addition, the role of this security committee is limited to ensuring network security, and upgrades cannot be rejected for any reason other than security.
